Kelly, I'm so sorry you lost Elvis. I know how much it hurts to lose an old friend and integral part of the family. My heart and thoughts are with you.
Oh Kelly, my heart is so sad for you in the loss of your beloved Elvis. They are never with us long enough. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Steve. Elvis was a lucky guy to have such a loving family.

I was not expecting this outcome from the first post. I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Elvis, but I am sure he was the best dog and well loved. My condolences to you and your family.

OMG. We are all sorry and heavy hearted at our house, too. He was so much smaller a decade ago--almost exactly--when we took him to your house in the white minivan. We had no idea how big he would get or how sweet he would be.
He turned out like some gentle giant, rather Steve's daemon if you go with notion of owner-reflective creatures that appear in The Golden Compass.
He helped raise the kids, helped guard the property, did two states and three houses, taught you about skunk management, and enriched lives even beyond your family.
We all miss him. For his happy dogly tearing and chewing in the great beyond, I wish him all my individual lost socks that vanish into the ether. We love you, Elvis.

With luck, he'll hook up with my pal Porter, who hopped the fence on this mortal coil a couple months ago.
Good dogs are hard to say good-bye to. They take a piece of us with them, but they also leave a lot of love behind.
