Nobody has the contract yet, but J.B. Excavating is the apparent low bidder at $1,455,000.

That's almost half a million dollars less than the city engineer's estimate of $1.9 million. Wonder what they'll do with the savings -- perhaps kick it toward a new police building?

We are starting to see contractors bidding lower on jobs. That tells me they are looking for work. For those government jobs that already have allocated funds, now is the time to put the jobs out to bid. They can result in substantial savings.
