How to get your teenager out of bed in the morning

Stealthily rummage through their desk. Make muted sounds of discovery and surprise. Pick up the cell phone and pretend to read messages. For heavier sleepers, go through the pockets of the clothing on the floor they wore yesterday. Open their purse, musical instrument case or gym bag. If all else fails, loudly unzip the backpack. Watch their little eyes fly open and their hummingbird hearts begin to pound. VoilĂ .

  1. Brilliant! And when the debris and/or stench prevents safe entry into your teenager’s bedroom, the Bagpipe CD – played at full volume – is a remarkable motivator.

“Sure, I’ll turn it off. As soon as you’re in the shower.”
