After newspaper job cuts in 2007 -- what's ahead?

As advertising and circulation revenue plunged, newspaper publishers, for better or worse, trimmed fixed costs -- labor and newsprint -- to prop up margins.

Recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that for the first 10 months of 2007, the number of employees in the newspaper industry declined by about 10,000 employees.
